Ashtanga Yoga emanated in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, then it was two Indian yoga teachers during the 21st century named Krishnamacharya and Pattabhi Jois who began to adopt and develop the Ashtanga Yoga from the city of Mysore in the state of Karnataka in Southern India. This is now predominantly adopted and practiced in most of the Western countries.
International Yoga Day 2020
The International Yoga day is being celebrated globally on 21st June of every year since 2015 during which the first International Yoga day celebrated by the initiative of Honourable Indian Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modiji in his address in 2014 during the opening of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA).
This year also on 21st of June 2020 International Yoga Day was celebrated as the sixth International Yoga Day despite COVID 19 in a simple manner. This year’s theme is ‘Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family’.
